Emergency

What to do if you have a dental emergency

If you have a dental emergency and you are a patient of this practice please call the practice as soon as it opens and we will endeavour to see you on the same day.

At weekends and on public holidays we are part of the Dental Association Taranaki Branch emergency roster. Please telephone 06 753 7866 for the dentist on duty. For serious emergencies such as dental trauma or major swelling please attend the hospital emergency department.

Dental Trauma

If a tooth has been knocked out it is important to find it and get it back into place as soon as possible. Keep the tooth in milk. Fragments of teeth can often be bonded back into place - don't forget to bring them with you to your appointment!

Swellings

Swelling is a sign of infection and needs to be attended to soon to prevent more serious problems.

Toothache

General dental pain is a sign of a problem with a tooth that needs attention. Temporary relief from pain killers that you can take should get you through to normal surgery hours.
